Leadwork

Lead is the most recycled and recovered building material in use today. Lead lasts longer and ages more beautifully than any of its synthetically produced stablemates. Its resistance to corrosion by atmospheric means ensures that lead outlasts any alternative building material, making it the best value, both in monetary and environmental terms. So, whilst lead may attract a premium price tag, in terms of longevity it represents excellent value for money. Moreover, its aesthetic value is unrivalled.

Barclay Roofing is one of the few contractors remaining which can claim to be true leadwork experts. Our lead workers take a great pride in their mastery of this ancient craft and relish the challenge presented by complex dormer windows, valley gutters, flat roofs and vertical panels, in addition to the day to day installation of the flashings required on most modern roofs. We also apply modern knowledge to calculate the rates of thermal movement. This combination of traditional craftsmanship and 20th century physics enables us to create roofs and features that will retain their aesthetic appeal for generations.

In support of our commitment to environmental principles, Barclay Roofing only works with responsible suppliers. As a result, over 90% of the lead we use is produced from recycled material to the highest quality standards.
